Zach Duke is a starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who currently plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In the 2001 draft he was drafted directly out of Midway High School in Waco, Texas by the Pirates.

Then he began his journey through the minor leagues. During the 2004 season he was named Pittsburgh's Minor League Pitcher-of-the-Year and earned Carolina League Pitcher-of-the-Year. Baseball America recognized him as having the best breaking pitch in the league. In 2006 he became the first rookie in Pirates history to win his first six decisions as a starter. During his first full season he became the teams pitching ace. He has a wicked curveball, that makes left handed hitters have trouble connecting with. His Fastballs average approx. 93 m.p.h,

Duke met his future wife Kristen Gross when she was an emcee for the Indianapolis Indians. They married in November 2007. With Matt Capps as their best man.They now reside in Pittsburgh year round.
