Guide Note: Wovoka, sometimes spelled Wavoka, was a Paiute Indian Shaman, who had a vision during a solar eclipse on New Years' Day, 1889. He believed that by dancing the Ghost Dance, the lives of the Indian would return to the way things were before white men came.
