Waltz with Bashir focuses on Ari Folman as he struggles to remember his experience during the Lebanon War during the 1980s. To recover these lost memories he meets with old friends from all parts of the world hoping they can help shine some light on this missing piece of his life.1

Waltz with Bashir has been nominated for a variety of awards. Of those nominations it won the title "Best Foreign Film" from the British Independent Film Awards, "Best Animation" from Los Angeles Film Critics Association and grand prize at the Tokyo Filmex.2

The Lebanon War occurred between June and September of 1982. The war was also known as Operation Peace of the Galilee. This three month conflict between Israeli forces and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), Syrian and Muslim Lebanese forces had a very brutal outcome. As many as 17,000 people died during the war.3
