Bud Johnson (Kevin Costner) never makes much of an effort in life. He gets by doing as little as he can until his twelve year old daughter, Molly (Madeline Carroll), unintentionally affects Election Day following a chain of events. Ultimately this leads to the election hinging on Bud's vote and the presidential candidates begin courting for it.
