Guide Note: Sheila E is an American Category: Musician Category:Actress and Category:Singer widely known for her incredible talent playing the drums. She is the daughter of famed percussionist Pete Escovedo, and the niece of Alejandro Escovedo from the Category: Punk Rock group The Nuns. Her heritage is Mexican, African American and Creole. She began playing the drums at age 3 and has been playing ever since. She has played with such notables as Alphonso Johnson, George Duke, Lionel Ritchie and Marvin Gaye to name a few. She met Prince during the early 80's after he seen her perform with her fathers band. The two eventually joined together during the Purple Rain recording sessions. Today, she is active in many different ventures including being a business partner of former The Brides of Funkenstein's Lynn Mabry. Together they formed The Elevate Hope Foundation for abused children.
