Search and Rescue Dog

Guide Note: Bloodhounds are the most commonly used search dogs while Labrador Retrievers are known as the best cadaver dogs. Newfoundlands are used for avalanche rescue, German Shepherds commonly for police work. Belgian Malinois, Golden Retrievers, Weimaraners, Smooth Collies, and Rhodesian Ridgebacks are also commonly used breeds for search & rescue.
