Guide Note:
Ron Hornaday, Jr. was born in Palmdale, CA on June 28, 1957. His father, Ron Hornaday, Sr. was a two-time Winston West Series Champion. His son, Ron ("Ronnie") Hornaday, III is also a former NASCAR driver and was the truck director for the #98 Gillett Evernham Motorsports Truck in 2006.
Ron Hornaday (he prefers to drop the "Jr.") began racing karts and motorcycles before racing stock cars at tracks including the Saugus Speedway and the Mesa Marin Raceway. He was discovered by the late Dale Earnhardt while racing in the NASCAR Winter Heat Series and was signed by DEI to drive in the fledgling Craftsman Truck Series when it began in 1995.
Hornaday has competed in all three major NASCAR series. In 2007, he won the Craftsman Truck Series championship for the third time. He currently races full-time in the #33 Camping World Chevrolet for Kevin Harvick Inc.
