Phylicia Rashad is an American film, television, and stage actress best known for her role as Clair Huxtable on the popular NBC sitcom The Cosby Show. She also appeared in two Cosby Show spin-offs; A Different World and Cosby, and starred alongside Diana Ross and Michael Jackson in The Wiz, an urbanized re-telling of The Wizard of Oz and featuring an all African American cast. For the ABC film A Raisin in the Sun, she reprised her role as Lena Younger, which she earned a best actress Tony Award for in 2004.
