Peter Reckell is an American actor who grew up on a farm in Michigan. He is the second oldest of six children. He has two brothers and three sisters. When he attended junior high school, he built theater sets and performed in the chorus. He appeared in many plays throughout his time in high school. He also became a theater technical director.

Peter Rekell graduated from the Boston Conservatory while working as a singing waiter. He received a Bachelor degree in fine arts with a minor in music and dance. Later he moved to New York City where he pursued his acting career. He did an off-Broadway production of Moonchildren. He also performed in The Fantastics, Carousel, Pirates of Penzance, Jesus Christ Superstar, Guys and Dolls, Love Letters, and Death Trap. His first marriage to Dale Kristen ended in divorce. Later he married Kelly Moneymaker who helped him publish a self-titled country rock album. In 2007 Kelly an Peter Reckell welcomed a baby girl named Loden.

Peter Reckell is an environmentalist. He takes protecting the planet very seriously. He recycles, built a home that is solar powered, rides his bicycle nine miles to work, and drives and electric powered car.
Peter Reckell has played on soap operas starting with the role of Eric Hollister on As The World Turns, and as Johnny Rourke on Knots Landing. He has played Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives from 1983 to 1987, 1990 to 1992 an from 1995 to the present.
