Guide Note: NPR (National Public Radio) was founded on February 24, 1970. It wa hosted by Robert Conley and it had basic news about the Vietnam War, and Senate hearings. It merged in 1977 with the Association of Public Radio Stations. It almost went into bankruptcy but made an agreement with Congress to divide their yearly stipend among local radio stations. It took them another three years to be completely free of their debt.
President Lyndon Johnson in 1967, signed into law, the Public Broadcasting Act. This helped to start the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and eventually led to the start of the Public Broadcasting Service.
Nation Public Radio is a not-for-profit organization. NPR serves as an association of people who sells articles for publications to a number of radio stations at the same time. It produces and broadcasts liberal radio programs some of which are news, talk shows, and entertainment. It also broadcasts the two most listened to radio programs; Morning Edition and All Things Considered. It is regarded as one of the most trusted radio - broadcast news networks in the United States.
