Guide Note:
Matt Garza is a Major League Baseball player currently pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays. He played baseball in college for the Fresno State University. He was drafted in the MLB Draft in 2006 by the Minnesota Twins. Baseball America ranked him as the Minnesota Twins seventh-best prospect. Garza did not make the Twins rotation out of Spring Training, was assigned to Rochester instead, in the minor leagues. He earned the USA Today Minor League Player of the Year Award for 2006. Coming up to the major leagues in 2007, he recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts in six innings against the Cleveland Indians.
In November 2008 Garza was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays with fellow team mates Jason Bartlett and Eduardo Morlan. Pitching a game against the Seattle Mariners he was injured and diagnosed as radial nerve inflammation in his pitching arm. This has put him on the disabled injury list. But look for a great pitching future from this pitcher.
