[edit] Career
In 2001, the idea of a music career was just a gleam in the eye for Matchbook Romance. Encouraged by friends and family, the group decided to forgo college and focus on their music. After spending six months recording a demo, the band caught the eye of Brett Gurewitz, President of Epitaph Records. After flying them to Los Angeles,he decided to sign the band to the label.
Gurewitz produced the bands EP West For Wishing and the band soon found themselves on the Warped Tour with such notables as The Used, Taking Back Sunday, and Avenged Sevenfold. Having very limited touring experience, the tour helped the band gain exposure to new fans as well as to the other bands. Yellowcard and The Ataris both had Matchbook Romance as a supporting act on different tours.
