Guide Note:
Luigi's Mansion is a video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Gamecube. The game is the first of its kind in that it is the first game that Nintendo has released that stars Luigi and not his brother, Mario. The game was also one of the first Nintendo Gamecube games to be re-released as a Player's Choice title, along with Pikmin and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Luigi's Mansion is the fifth best-selling game for the Nintendo Gamecube, selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide. The premise of the game is simple: Luigi has won a haunted mansion where his brother Mario is being kept. The goal of the game is to rid the mansion of it's many ghouls while searching for Mario. To assist Luigi in his quest, Professor E. Gadd gives Luigi the Poltergust 3000, a device used to capture the many ghosts that inhabit the ghastly manor. E. Gadd also gives Luigi the Game Boy Horror, a device used to communicate with the mysterious professor during Luigi's adventure. In order to progress through the game, players must defeat special ghosts called "Portrait Ghosts"; upon defeating a "Portrait Ghost", the specter is then changed back into a painting and stored in E. Gadd's laboratory. Interestingly enough, Professor E. Gadd also created F.L.U.D.D., the device used by Mario in Super Mario Sunshine to fight evil; E. Gadd is also the creator of the paintbrush used by Mario's foe, Bowser Junior, during the same game. The game received generally positive reviews, and is considered one of the best, if not the best, Nintendo Gamecube launch title.
