Long Island is an island southeast of New York City and is located between the Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean.The island is longer (118 miles) than it is wide (between 12 and 23 miles).It is the most populated island in the U.S. or its territories.it just isn't home to second and third generations but has so many attractions for all. Coney Island and Jones Beach are two famous beaches that one shouldn't miss. Fire Island National Seashore is a barrier of the south shore and very popular summer attraction for vacations. The Hamptons are noted for being a playground for the rich and famous. Go further north to North Fork where you will visit the many wineries there. The town of Port Jefferson is filled with a variety of eateries with a bohemian atmosphere.
With Airports such as LaGuardia and JFK you have no problem reaching your destination. Ferries run between island and the city.
