Attended Ware County High School in Waycross, Georgia, where he was born and raised. During his senior year in high school he recorded 51 tackles and recovered three fumbles, also intercepted six passes and broke up six passes
Decided on Troy University in Troy, Alabama. He played in all the games as a return man, his freshman year. He averaged 11.7 yards per punt return and 21.9 yards per kickoff return for his first college season.
His next season started off better than previous with 619 yards on just 24 kickoff returns, he added 417 yards on 33 punt returns and was credited with 30 tackles on defense, including 26 solo stops. And his last year as cover corner, recorded 66 tackles and 56 solo stops.He is considered the top corner and kick returners in the nation.

McKelvin is predicted to be in the top on Draft Day. Very sturdy built player with speed. Smooth transition and agile hips makes him a natural for this position.
Any team needing a top-notch return man should do well with this player. With guidness and maturity this player will go far.
