Guide Note:
Larry Norman is considered "the father of christian rock." He was the first person to achieve commercial success by combining christian music with rock, folk and gospel. He was musician, singer, songwriter and producer and was a member of the band People! where he wrote songs. In 1969, Norman recorded his first solo album, Upon This Rock which could be considered the first christian rock album and included memorable songs as I Wish We'd All Been Ready. In 1972 he released LP Only Visiting This Planet. In 1992, suffered severe heart attack. Norman died on February 24 at his home in Salem, OR.
