Official Kansas State Timeline

• 1858 - Bluemont Central College Association chartered by Territory of Kansas
• 1860 - Bluemont Central College opened
• 1862 - President Lincoln signs the Morill Act
• Febuary 16, 1863 - Kansas State Agricultural College is the first Land Grant college founded under the Morrill Act.
• 1875 - The school moves to it's current location in Manhattan, Kansas.
• 1927 - The school is renamed to Kansas State College
• 1955 - The school is renamed to Kansas State University
• 1991 - The University merges with the Kansas Technical Institute of Salina, forming Kansas State's Salina Campus
