Guide Note:Josh Barnett is a professional MMA fighter and professional wrestler. At UFC 36, he defeated Randy Couture to become the UFC heavyweight Champion, and shortly after defeated Yuki Kondo to win the title of King of Pancrase in Japan. Barnett loves to take opponents down in order to ground and pound them, but he is also a remarkable and gifted submission artist (having won numerous matches, arm bar and choke). Barnett trains out of Matt Hume's world-renowned gym in Kirkland, Washington. Barnett recently fought the gold medalist Pawel Nastula at PRIDE 32, the organization's first show in the USA. In order to fight again in Nevada, the Nevada State Athletic Commission required that Barnett pass a mandatory drug test, which he did.
