Jacksonville, Florida, located in Duval County, on the St. John's River, is Florida's largest city. The Timucua Indians were the first settlers in this area. It was in 1592 that it was discovered by explorers. Jacksonville was originally called Cowford. During the Civil War, Jacksonville was the southern army's main supplier of hogs and cattle. The city was named after Andrew Jackson in 1822. During reconstruction after the war, Jacksonville became popular with northerners, beginning the tradition of Florida vacations.

Jacksonville Municipal Stadium is home to NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, with seats for 77,000 fans. The Jacksonville Suns minor league baseball team plays in Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, built in 2003.
