[edit] Early Years
Ferrer became an orphan at age twelve, and he supported himself by selling newspapers and vegetables on the streets in Cuba, before starting his career at age fourteen.5

Ferrer joined a vocal group with his cousin to start his career, and went on to sing with a number of Cuban groups. In 1959, during the Cuban revolution, Ferrer sang with the group Los Bocucos and went on tour Europe in 1962.5 Ferrer all though retiring in 1991, was asked to start performing again at the age of 69. The album he made in 1997, sold over four million copies.6 In 2003, Ferrer made another album which sold over a million copies.7
Ferrer made his last recording in 2005, after coming back from an European tour, and then died in August of that year.8 In 2007, another album was released that was only half done when he died, which was called Mi Sueno which means My Dream.9
