Guide Note: This How to Make Meatloaf Videos page will guide you in preparing a delicious, homemade meatloaf. While meatloaf is most commonly made with a ground meat (beef, pork, veal, lamb, or a combination of meats), modern trends are making use of ground turkey, chicken, and vegetarian substitutes. The main ingredient of choice is traditionally mixed with bread (breadcrumbs, dry oatmeal, or another dry crumb food item) soaked in a liquid to add body and bulk to the dish. Meatloaf can be stuffed with foods such as boiled eggs or vegetables, wrapped in bacon, or topped with mashed potatoes. The combinations are endless. Many cooks glaze their meatloaf with a tomato or barbecue sauce. The traditional meatloaf is made into a loaf shape, just as bread; however, creative cooks have turned them into other forms such as hearts and wreaths.
