Guide Note: The Lion Heart is one of the strongest weapons in "Final Fantasy VIII." It can be used by only Squall Leonheart, the protagonist in the game. Throughout the game, Squall equips himself with different gun blades. The strongest gun blade out of the seven available to Squall is the Lion Heart. A neon-blue colored weapon, the Lion Heart provides the highest attack level (30).
Requirements: To obtain the Lion Heart, Squall must have one Adamantine, which can be gathered at Long Horne Aisle. Squall also must have four Dragon Fangs, which can be acquired through level ups through Level 29. Finally, Squall must have 12 Pulse Ammo. It is ideal to level up to about Level 30 before going after the Lion Heart.
Fast Facts:
The Lion Heart can be obtained during Disc 1, but you can wait until later in the game to get it. It is preferred you obtain it during Disc 1 because it makes Disc 2 more enjoyable, as several enemies that, when defeated, provide higher magic power-ups. You cannot buy the Lion Heart at any of the shops.
Since you need to have 12 Pulse Ammo, it's ideal to go to the Laguna sequence to battle enemies and level up. Elastoid enemies in the walkway near the cave will provide Laser Cannons, which can be refined into Pulse Ammo.
By performing a limit break with the Lion Heart, nearly all of Squall's hits accumulate 9,999 damage.
