[edit] Origin of Doctor Octopus
Dr. Otto Octavious was a nuclear physicist. He built his mechanical arms as an instrument to aide in his atomic research. They were valuable to his research because they are extremely resistant to radiation, are extraordinarily strong and highly precise. A radiological explosion left the mechanical arms fused to his body and gave him the the ability to control the tentacles directly with his mind. After the accident he turned to a life of crime and became Doctor Octopus.
