  • 1786: Born near Limestone, Tennessee, on August 17. Fifth of nine children.
  • 1806: Marries Mary 'Polly' Finley; they have two children together
  • 1815: Polly Crockett dies; Davy marries Elizabeth Patton, a widow
  • 1821: Elected to the Tennessee State Legislature. Served two terms.
  • 1825: Suffers defeat in his first bid for U.S. Congress
  • 1827: Wins his second election attempt for Congress, serving two terms
  • 1831: Defeated for second re-election bid for Congress
  • 1833: Returns to Congress for third term
  • 1834: Considers running for the Presidency, but decides against it
  • 1835: Moves to Texas
  • 1836: Dies at the Alamo on March 6
