Guide Note:Dave Menne is a professional MMA fighter. He began his professional career in 1997. On September 28th, 2001, the UFC held UFC 33 in Las Vegas and would have their first ever Middleweight Title Match. The two participants chosen for the first match were Dave Menne and Gil Castillo. After their match went the distance Dave Menne won by decision to become the first ever UFC Middleweight Champion. In 2004, he had corrective eye surgery which kept him out of the ring for half of the year. He returned to the ring in June of 2005, with a win, and because of another injury, he was out for the remainder of that year. He returned in January of 2006, as part of Rumble on the Rocks 175lb tournament in Hawaii. He is an instructor at the Dave Menne’s Northway Gym, where he teaches Mixed Martial Arts. Programs are available to students based on experience, ability, work ethic, and goals.
