Guide Note:
Das EFX has been one of the bands with more lyrical influence in hip-hop music during 1990s. The group was founded in 1988 when the two members were known in Virginia State University. Although they participated in EPMD local talent show, the duo lost the competition. The band captured the attention when they release their landmark debut album Dead Serious which went platinum. Their original style was adopted by other hip-hop artists as Lords of the Underground, Fu-Schnickens, Kris Kross and others. Quickly their lyrical delivery was imitated by many artists. In 1995 after releasing their third album Hold It Down, EPMD had a breakup. The duo led to a three-year absence from recording. They returned in 1998 with the album Generation EFX and release How We Do in 2003. Both gained acceptance by the critics.
