- Skewers are long metal or wood pins used to cook food. Combinations of marinated beef,chicken,pork,shrimp, or fish are commonly combined with vegetables on skewers and grilled. Combinations of herbs, cheeses and fruit are also used for to serve raw food on skewers.
Fast Facts:
- Soak wooden skewers for at least 20 minutes before cooking to keep them from burning when grilled.
- Food sticks less to and can be removed easier from stainless steel skewers.
- Seasoned skewers are now available, which release oils and herbal extracts into the food as it cooks.
