Guide Note:
Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline the deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and natural built environment, including works such as roads, water works, sewers, dams, power plants, transmission towers, railroads, highways, bridges, tunnels, irrigation canals, river navigation, shipping canals, traffic control, mass transit, airport runways, terminals, industrial plant buildings, skyscrapers, etc.. It is the oldest branch of the profession of engineering after military engineering. The construction of Pyramids in Egypt (circa 2700-2500 BC) might be considered the first instances of large structure constructions. Civil Engineering is the application of physical and scientific principles, and its history is intricately linked to advances in understanding of physics and mathematics throughout history. It started when humans began to abandon nomadic existence, thus causing a need for the construction of shelter.
