Cairo Restaurants
Guide Note: This is the travel page for Cairo Restaurants. Cairo is the capital city of Egypt, and is one of the largest urban areas in the world. Cairo's cuisine is rich and full of life, and although they do have their own culinary traditions, they share some of their qualities with the Mediterranean cuisine. Some of the usual dishes you will see in Cairo are Shawerma's, which are usually made of shaved lamb, goat or chicken then stuffed into pita bread and smothered with Tahina sauce. Another dish is Mahshi, spicy rice stuffed in vegetables and then rolled in grapevine leaves. For some of this famously delicious food, there are a number of restaurants that you can visit. One being, Abou El Sid which is famous for dishes such as chicken molokhiyya. Being that the restaurant is on the upper deck of a boat, The Fish Market is said to have some of the freshest seafood in Cairo. Try their bread, which is baked fresh everyday, on premises, in their oven.

: "The main downtown branch has a pleasantly eclectic ambience that suggests the owner decorated it with little things she collected over the years."
- Lonely Planet Selection: "If you want a cheap but good-quality eatery within walking distance of the Pyramids, try the Giza branch of Felfela or the popular Peace II Seafood Restaurant."

- Fodor's Review
: "They claim to get their produce from farm to grill in fewer than four hours, which is why (despite the fast-food decor) this joint turns out some of Cairo's tastiest grilled chicken -- and little else."
