Andrew Miller is a remarkable Pitcher, before deciding to go to college he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2003. Miller decided to to pursue his career by attending the University of North Carolina. In his three years at UNC Tar Heels he had a record of 27-9 and his last year was 13-2 with a 2.48 ERA. He led the team to the College World Series but lost to Oregon State University. He was awarded the Clemens Award, an award going to the college pitcher of the year. Baseball America a baseball magazine named him 2006 college player of the year also. Being a southpaw he has been compared to a younger Randy Johnson. He was drafted 6th overall by the Detroit Tigers in 2006 MLB Draft, signing with a guaranteed value of 5.45 million and bonus of 3.55 for signing.
In December of 2007, he was traded along with 5 of his team mates including Cameron Maybin, Mike Rabelo, Dallas Trahern, Eulogio de la Cruz and Burke Badenhop to the Florida Marlins in exchange for 2 players.
Miller's debut for the Marlins was a rough one, with 90 pitches in his first start.
He will be seen in games to come as this pitcher has what it takes to make it in the majors. A name to remember.
